About the Institute

Focusing on the issue of public buildings is a permanent part of the orientation of the Faculty of Architecture since the establishment of Faculty. This Institute is the successor of the Faculty’s tradition and the follower of the architectural schools based by notable Slovak architects like Professor Belluš, Professor Karfík, or Professor Lacko. Throughout its existence, had this focus different organizational forms - from full connection with housing structures (under various names) to division into two separate departments. The present state was created in 2011 after the division of the Institute of Housing and Civic Structures. The mission of the Institute of Civic Structures is pedagogical, scientific research and creative activity in the field of architectural design of buildings for administration, education, retail, service, transport, public catering, culture, healthcare, sport and leisure time. New trends in the design of these buildings are the main content of research activity of Institute and acquired knowledge is applied to pedagogical and creative activity.
